
Mentioned for the first time in documents as a business in the 1700’s, Dallmayr has grown achieved great success! In the 1900’s, the Dallmayr delicatessen in Munich was known as Europe’s finest deli which supplied coffee to 15 different royal courts. Through many expansions and product innovation Dallmayr has established a reputation of producing coffee of superior quality.
Today, Dallmayr remains the largest importer of Ethiopian washed Arabicas in the world. Only in their original homeland, in the fertile Southern provinces of Sidamo and Harrar, do the coffees thrive which give Dallmayr Prodomo its special taste. Dallmayr coffee specialists test up to 200 cups a day to examine different deliveries and determine blends. Coffees from other classical growing areas in South and Central America, Africa and Asia are also purchased and processed.
Dallmayr roasts approximately 40,000 tons of coffee every year to supply the retail trade, cafés, restaurants and the Delicatessen in Munich.

In 1899, brothers Paul and Otto Fromm founded their chemicals factory in Bad Schwartau. At this time, their products had little to do with jams or fruit spreads. This changed as early as 1907, when the factory was transformed into a sugar refinery and from then on the Company concentrated on fruit-based products.
In 1927 Schwartauer Honigwerke and Zuckerraffinerie AG, the Lübeck Marzipan and Baking Products Factory and the Lübeck Chocolate and Jam Factory were merged to form Schwartauer Werke AG. Not only was the Company's successful restructuring then a cause for celebration, but also the first anniversary of the Schwartau trademark: the memorable Lübeck silhouette with its seven towers.
Since then the Company itself and its range of products have grown steadily to include; spreads, fruit desserts, baking and decorative products. Today, Schwartau has achieved a leading market position.
